Why I want to meet Sunshinedreem

I find her intriguing… her interests and places she wants to explore are largely the same as mine? Van Gogh, The International Spy Museum, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Spain… even down to the last detail like visiting Ben & Jerry’s Factory! That’s awesome!!! My fav flavor is the “Coffee Heath Bar Crunch” thing YUM… Now she listed Hawaii which is cool but… Basically, she forgot to list Alaska “The last frontier” and mainly…My home! So… here is a genuine invitation for… whenever??? to visit Alaska and I’d be happy to provide details for you and if you felt comfortable I’ll even volunteer to be the tour guide, work schedule permitting of course, you know how it goes… so! There you go – My spin on a lady that somehow? Likes the same stuff…
Go figure… she lives on the other side of the planet!

I've added Alaska to my list

Honestly I just hadn’t gotten there yet! I don’t know how well I’d fare up there though, I’m not really a cold weather kind of girl. It does look so beautiful though, that I’ll give it a chance one day.

Now if you ever make it to the DC area and want to check out that spy musuem just let me know! I’m sure I’ll get there this coming summer, but I’ve heard it’s a place that needs to be visited several times to take it all in.

Alaska is breath taking...

I grew up in Michigan just outside of Detroit so… I’m pretty familiar with winter stuff… I flew up to Alaska in June of 2001 with my reserve unit to install some fiber optic lines at Elmendorf AFB. When I stepped off the air transport I couldn’t believe what I was seeing… the back drop of the mountains against the cystal blue sky and wild patterned clouds moving rapidly over the mountain range was enough for me to chart a new path! I returned to Alaska in 2002 October when I secured a job and recently bought a house in Eagle River. This place rocks and trust me the temp. really isn’t that bad in Anchorage. Hear’s the secret the mountain range that surrounds Anchorage is shaped much like a horse shoe and protects the city from the harsh winter stuff coming from the Artic Cirle so… that coupled with warm currents traveling all the way from Japan and Hawaii keep the waters and inland temp. around -2 to 35F during the winter and sure sometimes we have a cold spell with wind chill down to -18F but that doesn’t last too long and yea the snow likes to fall but its lite and powdery so… snowboarding and skiing is awesome! want some real adventure… don’t forget the ski planes landing on the frozen lakes… Now the summers are the best anywhere why? because we have lots of mountains, tons of trails and 18hrs of sunlight! that’s right… that’s why Alaska is called the home the “Midnight Sun” and yes I’ve actually run in the forest, starting at 11:30pm and finished up around 1am and the Sun looks likes it’s only 6-7pm or maybe 8pm max. pretty wild uh?
anyway the DC Spy Musuem sounds really cool! and yes I would like to see it! My Dad is retired now and lives in the Tampa, Florida area and my sister & Brother-in-law still live in Michigan so… I travel back that way often.

It does sound amazing

I had no idea about the sunlight in the summer! I still think that cold is way too much for me! Anything below about 45F or so and I’m freezing to death, I couldn’t even imagine what -2 would be like lol! A summer trip is on my agenda, though I don’t know when I will be able to afford another vacation.

Vacation...

Anchorage isn’t normally that cold but… it has it’s moments when the norm shifts to the other side of the scale and we basically freeze our #$! off! but that doesn’t happen for long and… I’ve managed to hang out for the last several years up here and I’m still lovin it! Yes the summers are unmatched anywhere! nowhere else on the planet could you find a more perfect place filled with natural beauty that blends into the wild mountain ranges that contrast the daily back drop for your eyes to see… my heart raced and my eyes danced when I first stepped off the plane to witness it for myself! After my vaction… I returned as quickly as I could, Alaska was calling me…

That’s exactly how I feel about New England. I found everything in that area amazing, from the old homes and buildings to the beaches and forests.
